Even though this small part from
a book called "Computers and Composition", it explains a little bit
of one of the main issues art industry is going through because of new media:
plagiarism.
Example of plagiarism.
Howard (2007) stated that in
today’s revolution, the internet is described as the cause of perceived increase
in plagiarism; the role of the Internet should be understood, however, not just
in terms of access to text but also in terms of textual relationships. Everything can be easily copied and
pasted, and then claimed as that person’s own work. Since most of this happens to
non-popular artists, there is no copyright that protects their material, so there’s
nothing legally the artist can do if someone steals their art.
